I am 58 59 60 years old, married for the last 38 39 40 years to the love of my life. Wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter. Love to bike, hike, knit, bake and spend time with family.
Never had a weight problem growing up or the years I was raising my family. I weighed 128 pounds when #7 was six weeks old and stayed around there for the next 15 years. I started gaining slowly after age 45 and nobody was more surprised than me when I ended up with 90 extra pounds. I lost 60 pounds about 10 years ago, slowly gained back 50 of the 60, lost 40 pounds 5 years ago and pretty quickly gained that back. Both times I lost weight I did it in a short amount of time, averaging about 10 pounds a month. Since then I would lose 10 or 20 pounds, gain it back, lose it … on and on. April 2009 in one month I gained 20 pounds putting me close to 100 pounds over what was my normal weight for years. It took me six more months before I decided to finally get with the program and do this the right way.
After a year and a half of basically losing and then gaining the same five pounds, I began doing mostly Paleo eating in late fall 2011 … fresh vegetables and protein with some fruit in season, along with trying to totally eliminate grains, sugars and legumes. I plan on continuing this through 2012, starting with the Primal blueprint 21-day challenge.
